A Take on Salvador from Malaysia Mali...

As you can imagine, I am no Professional artist. Far from it but I just love participating on these fun challenges from groups which I follow.

This months challenge theme is: If I was a Famous Artist... I would have Painted.......

I did a wide search on some of my favourite painters. There's Picasso, Van Gogh, Mochealangelo, Warhol, Degas... so many but I thought I'll give a try on Salvador Dali.

I have always been fascinated by his TIME / CLOCK paintings. Somehow, in some ways, I can relate to them.

Anyhow, just to show you, here's what I did.

Here's the ORIGINAL Salvador Dali. :)

If you are interested to join in on the fun.. here's the place to go: MIXED MEDIA ART JOURNAL.

So, drop soon! Have a blessed weekend! *hugs*

PS: Just in case you want to know more on Famous Artist, you can find them here.

Zine you know Spring is here?

As Spring approaches (though I don't get to experience it)... I've joined this Group on facebook: 12 months in View. We are working on 12 months view of our lives, changes that are taking place. And to start with, it's Spring.

I am learning alot though. Never really gave much thought to the seasons. Not up till now :)

So, we had to make a Zine. You must be wondering what a Zine is?

According to the Free Dictionary online:

zine also 'zine (zn)
n.
1. An inexpensively produced, self-published, underground publication: 2. An e-zine.

The Urban Dictionary:

1. "Zine" is short for fanzine. For all intensive purposes, a zine is a cheaply-made, cheaply-priced publication, often in black and white, which is mass-produced via photocopier and bound with staples.
2. Zine some sort of publication, usually mass-produced by photocopying (in some cases, scanned, put on the 'net, or copied via fax)on any range of topics, but usally filled with passion. a means of telling one's story, sharing thoughts, and/or artwork/comics/doodles.
3. Zine a crudely-made magazine often dedicated to the thoughts and musings of its creator, and sometimes devoted to a particular art form or celebrity

If you need toi know more, just search online and you can get pretty good definitions and ideas!

Anyways, here's what I did.

Hope you liked it. Have a blessed day! *hugs*

C is for Creativity

Facebook Group
For this page, I could not really add in my journalling thoughts but I'll say it here. :)

Journaling
How creative do you think you are? Do you struggle with fear where your creativity is concerned?
I believe I am very creative but I do struggle with fear when it comes to my creativity. I sometimes feel I am not good enough to be called an artist. But am overcoming it now... slowly but surely.
If you have dealt with this fear, how did you tackle it?
Slowly but Surely! :)
Apart from art or crafting, in what other areas do you express your creativity?
I also like to playing about with cooking recipes. I am definitely not one to be able to conform to a recipe as it is. I tend to change them according to my liking and spontainety. :)

This page was a first experience with painting with salt. I had fun exploring and experimenting with it.

Here's what I did. :) hope you enjoyed your visit here! *hugs*
Have a blessed weekend and a Prosperous gong Xi Fa Cai to all my Chinese friends!

B is for Believe

Facebook Group
For my second journal page on An A to Z of me, I wanted to use the new Fluorescent crayons which my daughter got me. A new toy for me :P I wanted to use them for some time but never knew when or where to use it on. LOL.

So, I thought it would be great to use it for this second page.

Have you ever wondered, the word BELIEVE is so simple yet, one of the hardest to do?

Norman Vincent Peale once quoted: Believe in yourself! Have faith in your abilities! Without a humble but reasonable confidence in your own powers you cannot be successful or happy.

That's so true. And to strengthen this word, Philippians 4:13 says:
I can do all this through him who gives me strength.

I love this Verse. It gives me the strength when I needed it most.

Everyone believes in something. What do you believe in? What do you put your confidence in?

I believe in God. And my confidence is definitely in Him.
So, here's what I came out with. Sorry, it's a little messy. It's my first time using crayons after playing with water colours for some time. :)

But, I do kind of like it though. Its not perfect.

Have a blessed day! *hugs*

A is for Adventure

Facebook Group

I am participating with this group An A to Z of Me on journaling about myself for 28days. Its really an exciting experience for me. If you are interested in joining in, you can still do so! Just click on the blinkie above.

We were given some prompts to help us get going. Below are the Journaling, Bible Verse, Technique challenge for us to follow. I could not do the distress technique as I do not own.any distress inks. :)

But that's the awesome part about Art Journaling, there are no hard and fast rules. Everyone is allowed to explore their creativity according to their own interpretation.

If money, time, age and commitments were not a problem, what adventure would you like to take?
I wrote, I would love to take my family on a vacation to Disneyland, go on a Pilgrimage to Jerusalem, take up an Art Course and explore more techniques on Art Journaling

It is only in adventure that some people succeed in knowing themselves - in finding themselves. Andre Gide

Bible Verse
I will make a highway across the mountains and prepare a road for my people to travel. Isaiah 49:11 (GNT)

Technique Challenge
Try Distress Ink Bleachout on your page today

So, here's what I did.

Have a fun filled and blessed day! *hugs*

An Attitude Of Gratitude Journal - DAY 1 Wholeheartedness

Day 1 - Wholeheartedness

This challenge is actually over. But I like the idea of creating a GRATITUDE Journal and thought what Bernice Hopper started was awesome! So I have decided to follow her prompts and challenge myself to a Gratitude Journal for the next 30days! :)

Facebook Group

If you are interested to start one yourself, do check it out here.

I hardly use Purple. So I thought, it would be nice to try out splashing purple across the page. :) Purpley-purple! Reminds me of Barney....

Also, I am Thankful and Grateful for all that the Lord have made possible for me. Though some are still in the decision process, but I know that All things Are possible! :)

So, here's what I did for DAY 1. Hope you enjoyed your visit here.

Have a blessed day! *hugs*

WAW #64

This is what I did for this week's challenge at Word Art Wednesday.

Do come by soon! *hugs*

Anxiety Pangs

Things have been rather hard and so many decisions to be made....

Firstly, my dog gave birth to 5 puppies. Don't get me wrong. I love dogs but due to financial constraint... I am worried as I will not be able to keep those pups and whom am I to give them to? Its a really worrying thing as people are not so dog loving here.

As it is, I have encountered some problems with my neighbours who are constantly trying to find a lil fault in my dogs. I have 2 dogs already, as it is. And our home is like a Hobbit Hole...

Secondly, I have been thinking whether to go back to work. :( Its the toughest decision of all as I have  been a SAHM for almost 18years now and my youngest is only 2 years... I have 5 kids. Hubby is finding it hard to get a good paying job. So, financially, its really hard on him and all of us with the demands growing...

Alot of what ifs...who should... how nows...and so on...I can go on thinking up all kinds of thoughts but, its not going to get me anywhere. :/

So, I had to quiet myself down and not be bogged down by all thats happening around me and seek the Lord.

As Matthew 11: 28-30 “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.”

Well, as I was browsing the web.. I saw this word and had to draw it out to express myself. I havent been drawing or painting the past weeks so, it was good therapy to paint again! :)

This is what I did:

I will be uploading more artworks later. Stay tuned! :)
Have a blessed day! *hugs*

Jar Of Hearts

While I was sitting in the car on the way for lunch with my DH (darling Hubby), he suddenly asked me the name of a singer. I was trying to remember, then I remembered her famous song "Jar Of Hearts" - Christina Perri

I started singing the song and pondered on it.

Just not long ago, my daughter came home from work one day and started crying. I was shocked at first. All kinds of stuffs started whirling in my mind. Then I calmly spoke to her....

She started saying how she's heart broken that this guys whom she's become pretty close friends with; was at first attracted to her. He did ask her to be his special gal and she sort of "declined it" as she just went through a heart break and she needed time to be herself again.

After a few months, she decided she was ready. She told the guy. Now it turns around, he's not sure if he was ready.

So, you can imagine her heart break once again. She felt rejected.

Anyways... I spoke to her and hugged her.

Now, coming back to this song.... sometimes I reflect back on my own life. The many heart breaks I have gone through myself....

So, I quickly search for the verse Love is Patient, Love is kind.... 1 Corinthians 13:4.

One thing thats for real is...when love done in accordance to God's will, is never wrong.

As the verse itself speaks...its never envious, nor proud.

So here's my art which I drew out of inspiration from the song and replaced it instead with 1 Corinthians 13:4.

Hope you enjoyed your visit here. Have a Blessed week ahead! *hugs*

Creative Every Day - Dark

The only thought I had about Dark was... Night. Lol. Then again, I love Owls..."Hoot! Hoot!" I told myself, I had to create an owl and add doodles and zens on it.

And I have added a night sky to give that Dark Theme. Usually, my pictures tells something about my feelings but for today's, there's no dark emotion towards it but JOY. I am just enjoying these moments when I am able to paint and relieve my childhood again! :)

I really had a fun time creating my owl... Will do another one sometime. So, I hope you have enjoyed your visit here too! Have a blessed day! *hugs*

Creative Everyday Challenge 2013

This  year have so far, started with a great bang! of new opportunities, explorations and fun!
I am still in the exploration stage of discovering my inner talent. but nevertheless... I am enjoying every bit of it.

For a start, I am going to try and create something each (if possible) or even doodle an art, do loads of zentangles...you should try them.. they are so much fun!

You just might never know you inner talent which is probably waiting to be unlocked! :)

The theme for this month on Creative Everyday challenge is: DARK.

I find it quite hard to do something dark and I am a person who loveees COLOURS! But never the less.. I am going to try and do one tomorrow. But meanwhile...

Here's what I have been meddling with today...

I know,  a lot of practice is still needed. No worries, I will get there soon! *hugs*

Have an awesome day!

A new Adventure for 2013 - Joy Journal 2013

For the year 2013, I wanted to experience something new. Something I have never ventured into nor dared to. Maybe out of fear, or low self esteem.

I am always so amazed by what some talented artists come up with and I have always dreamt of being in their shoes. :)

So, I took a challenge with myself to venture into mixed media crafting. I was really excited when I found a group on FB who are doing just that. And this amazing lady is so giving. Shes such a wonderful person to meet. You should check out her site.

Well, here's my first attempt on mixed media. I am going to create a journal out of it. The reason why mine is on loose papers is because I do intend on creating something else at the end of it. So do keep a look out for it!

We had to choose a word. On first thought, mine was PERSEVERANCE. I believe, this word is really for me. I have a tendency to give up easily. So for this year... I am going to work on this word - PERSEVERANCE!

The words surrounding the word "PERSEVERANCE" are the meaning to it. And I have also added a scripture verse to it - JAMES 1:2-3.

I hope you enjoyed this page as much as I did creating them. Have a Blessed day! *hugs*
